Happy Sabbath everyone! I’m curious, what is your “Christian practice?” I’m Seventh Day Adventist. I worship on Saturday, I don’t eat unclean food (shrimp, crab, pork, squid.. Anything that doesn’t have fins and scales, or doesn’t chew the cud). I’m a believer of Ellen White being a profit.
What I actually want to dive into is what I learned about in today’s sermon.
I was told about a man who lost his job because he was a preacher. Although, he wasn’t preaching at work, co-workers and I assume the boss found his videos online of him preaching, and they fired him. At first he didn’t mind because he had a job offer in another state. The company that had just fired him then told the other company that had a job offer for him told them that he was a preacher, and they revoked the job offer. Let me say now that that, is not religious liberty.
Here are some verses that were said today that helps to cover this topic.
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which of God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”~ Romans 13:1 NIV
“And said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?’ They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, ‘If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.’ Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’ ‘No one, sir’, she said. ‘The neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now, and leave your life of sin.’ “~ John 8:4-11 NIV
” ‘Caesar’s’, they replied. He said to them, ‘Then give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and give to God what is God’s.’ “~ Luke 20:25 NIV
“When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him.” ~Leviticus 19:33 NIV
Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”~ Matthew 24:4-14 NIV
